Happy New Year!

So what does the new year hold for you?  Jesus read in from the scroll, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,  To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." (Luke 4:18-19).  Again note verse 19: "To preach the acceptable year of the Lord".  Then Jesus applied the verses from Isaiah to himself.

This is the ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD!  Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, God has made the year acceptable to all those who will commit or has committed their lives unto Jesus as LORD.  However, what does that mean?  First, it means that by faith in Jesus we are make acceptable.  "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved"  (Ephesians 1:6).  Second, it means that we have access to the promises that Jesus set out in verse 18. (1) There is good news for the poor.  (2) There is healing for the brokenhearted.  (3) There is deliverance for those held captive by the devil. (4) There is recovering of spiritual sight. (4) There is freedom for those who have been emotionally bruised. Third, it means that those who will seek to be anointed of God will also receive the Spirit of God to minister to others.  Note: some computer firewalls may block the snow applet.
