Praying God's Promises

"Praying God's Promises" means that we come to agree in prayer with what God says in His Word about His promises.

We have some things that accompany salvation. Hebrews 6:9 "But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak."

We have access to all the promises of God throught Jesus. II Corinthians 1:20 "For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."

We can draw promises from both the Old and New Covenants. Matthew 13:52 "Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old."

We should pray according to His will as found in His Word. I John 5:14-15 "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him."

SOME EXAMPLES: (meant only to be a suggested outline for encouragement).

1. Safety from natural disasters. Isaiah 43:1-2 "But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee."

2. Success in life. Joshua 1:8 "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."

3. Peace of mind. Philippians 4:6-7 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."

4. Prosperity in life. III John 1:2 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

5. Salvation in Christ. Luke 19:9 "And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham."

6. Physical healing. I Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

7. Emotional healing and freedom. Luke 4:18-19 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord."

8. Cleansing from sin. Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

9. The good gift of the Holy Spirit. Luke 11:13 "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

10. Joy of the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17 "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

11. Deliverance from the enemy. Psalms 91:3 "Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence."

12. Spiritual fruitfulness. John 15:16 "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you."

13. Renewed fellowship with God. Jeremiah 29:13 "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

14. Increase in family or Church growth. Psalms 115:14-15 "The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth."

15. The blessings of the Lord. Psalms 1:1-3 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."

16. Forgiveness for all sin. I John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

17. More than we have dreamed. Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not."

18. The power of the Holy Spirit for witnessing. Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

"Praying God's Promises" also means to respectfully hold God to His Word" For example: God you said in your Word that I have healing through the stripes of Jesus; therefore, I am expecting you to honor your Word by the healing of my body. Amen.
