It helped me tremendously. I received a lot of freedom from anger, hate, bitterness, resentment, guilt, shame, condemnation, depression, and despair. I felt as if a huge burden was lifted off my shoulders as a result of understanding the biblical principles regarding all I mentioned above. The Holy Spirit quickened me, my understanding was opened, but day by day I have to fight a battle. It was not a magic bullet, but I was given tools to cope with all I have experienced in the cult, getting out, and so forth.
I'm continuing to learn the concept that the answer to everything is in the Word, and that standing on the Word mixed with faith, and remembering to take every thought captiveover time does lead to deliverance.
We were introduced to the Dakes Bible, and we liked it so much that we bought ourselves a copy. Studying the Bible and all the Bible study articles we received at Whole Person Counseling help me to get God's point of view on the issues I am experiencing, and that helps me to stay focused on the promises of both the Old and New Testaments instead of the lies of the Enemy.
Steve and I both feel that we benefited from the counseling and it was well worth the long drive to Texas, but it is just one step in my process of healing and deliverance. We are looking forward to greater degrees of freedom as we keep looking to the Lord and are transformed from glory to glory as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Our time in Texas laid the Biblical foundation for what was needed for my complete healing and deliverance to be accomplished. We have learned that a person first needs to be grounded in the Word and to receive inner healing for the demons to be completely driven out and have no ground to ever come back.
However...it's like my life is divided into two distinct parts. One area (what I shared above) is improving, but I have noticed little or no improvement in the following areas:
Appetite controlBut Steve and I are trusting the Lord to bring salvation in these areas. We realize that it is by faith and patience that we inherit the promises, so we are seeking Him and waiting on Him. We know He is faithful.
Talking too much
Effective use of my time
Consistancy in praying and reading the Bible
Frequent weird dreams, often about the cult
Insomnia and restless sleep
