Deliverance Prayer Guide

Please understand that this is a general outline for a deliverance prayer and does not take into account all the understanding for the Scriptural basis for the prayer.

1. Commit your life to Jesus Christ as Lord (ruler, king, or boss) and Saviour.  (Romans 10:9-10).
"I surrender my life to you, Jesus, as my personal Lord and Saviour."
2. Next, begin by asking the Holy Spirit for discernment. (I Corinthians 2:12-16).
"Holy Spirit, I ask you to show me any evil spirits that have set up a stronghold in my life and are blocking my progress in my Christian walk?"
3. Upon discernment for the need of deliverance confess your sin to God and ask for forgiveness and cleansing.   (I John 1:9).
"I confess to you Lord Jesus that I have opened the door for the spirit of ___________ to come in by my sin of _______________.  Therefore, I ask you to forgive me of the sin of _____________ and to also cleanse me of the consequence of _________________."
4. Yield that area of your life totally to the Lord Jesus and ask God to restore the ground that the enemy has taken.   (James 4:7, Psalm 23:3).
"I yield the area of  _____________ totally to you, Lord Jesus, and ask that you restore this area of my life."
5. Declare that Jesus came to destroy all the works of the devil.   (I John 3:8).
"I declare that Jesus came to destroy all the works of the devil including this area of _____________.
6. Receive the authority that God delegated to you as a Believer.  (Ephesians 1:16-23).
"I believe that Jesus was given all authority and then delegated that same authority to the Church which is his body.  Therefore, I now receive that authority as part of the body of Christ in the name of Jesus."
7. Command in the name of Jesus that the spirit is bound and must leave.  (Matthew 16:19, 18:18).
"In the mighty name of Jesus, I bind the spirit of ___________ and command the spirit of ___________ to leave my mind, will, emotions, body, this room, and this area and not to come back again."

Note: You are not only to ask God to take back the ground, but you are also to give an eviction notice to the enemy.

8. Ask the Holy Spirit if you are free and clear in the area.  (Romans 8:16).
"Holy Spirit am I now free and clear in this area?"

Note:  Often spirits group themselves together for strength.  You may also need to go down a long list, then command all of them to leave.  Also, there may be a strong spirit that rules over lesser spirits.  In such a case, you may need to cast out the strong spirit first.   Warning:  It is wise to have a Christian Counselor or Minister to assist you because he or she may discern what you may overlook.

9. Strengthen yourself now by confessing God's Word over the weak area where the spirit/s entered.  (Hebrews 10:23).
Example: (concerning fear)  "I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears" (Psalms 34:4).
10. Ask God now to heal the area where the emotional wound has been.  (Luke 4:18-19, Ezekiel 36:26).
"Heavenly Father, based upon the Word which says that Jesus was sent to heal the broken hearted and set free those who have been emotionally bruised, I ask you by the work of the Holy Spirit to step into this area of my heart and bring healing to the wounds that I have experienced.  I ask you to take away any hardness in my heart and give me a new heart in this area.  Amen."

Note: Don't forget to reinforce the area with the Word of God.
