What is our source for authority about angels?

II Timothy 3:16-17  All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

What is the meaning of the term "angels"? What other terms are used for angels?

Answer:  One of the terms that are used is "sons of God".  This term is used in the sense that angels were created by God.  The other term that is used is "host" of heaven.
Where did angels come from?

Answer: Angels are spiritual beings that God created.
How do angels fit in the order of creation? What is the order of angels? How much power does an angel have? Power does not equal authority.  An elephant is much stronger than a man, but is not equal in authority. Angels have mighty power, but even that is limited. What are some name of angels? Are angels omnipresent?   (can an angel be more than one place at the same time?) How much knowledge do angels have? How many angels are there? Do angels have a physical body? What does an angel look like? Are there any female angels? Do angels have their own language? Do angels have wings and fly? Do angels die? Do angels sing? Are angels holy? Do angels marry.

Answer: The angels are forbidden to marry.  After all, they are masculine.  However, Scripture indicates that there were once some angels that disobeyed God, leaving their first estate and had relations with women on the earth producing giants.

Where there angels that sinned?

Were there angels that fell?

Answer: Yes!  Lucifer led a rebellion in heaven and one third of the angels rebelled with him. He tried to exalt himself to being in the place of God that he might be worshipped.

What does the Bible call the angels that fell?

Answer: The three basic terms are "devils", "unclean spirits", and "evil spirits".
Is there salvation for the fallen angels?

Answer:  No!  There is no indication that Jesus died for fallen angels.  Jesus took on himself the form of man.  Furthermore, Jesus declares the judgment of the devil and his angels.
Who will judge the angels?

Answer:  Believers are given that responsibility.  This is also in the order of logic in that man is of a higher order than angels.

Who rules over the angels in heaven?

Answer:  The Father has ultimate authority to rule, but has delegated that authority to the Son.  The Son, Jesus, also delegates the authority to the Church.
Should we worship angels?

Answer:  No! God forbids it!  Lucifer (Isaiah 14:14) sought that position, but was kicked out of heaven.  When John fell before an angel, the angel rebuke him and told him to get up. Paul said the we are not to be seduced into worshipping of angels.  Again understand that angels are of a lower order than man.
Should we pray to angels?

Answer:  No! No! No! Prayer is related to worship of an higher order.  Angels are of a lower order. Jesus is our advocate with the Father, not angels.
Do Believers have the right to send or command angels?

Answer: No! Although, some people would assume that authority, that belief does not fit with Scripture. It would also be dangerous.

Daniel 10:12 Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.  Yes, the angel came in reponse to Daniel, but Daniel was praying to God and not to an angel!

Matthew 26:53  Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? Even Jesus, the Son of God did not say that he would command angels, but that he would appeal to the Father in prayer to send  twelve legions of angels. There are sixteen verses that use the expression of "his angels" meaning that they belong to God and that God has authority over them. There are also eight verses that use the expression of "angels of God".  ***We CAN also PRAY to the Father to send His angels to minister and He will do so but only according to His will and in His timing.

Mark 1:27  And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.  Yes, Jesus was given authority over demons (fallen angels, angels that had rebelled against the authority of God and which had been kicked out of Heaven), but not over the Father's angels in Heaven.

Do angels preach the Gospel?

Answer: No.  This privilege and responsibility is given to man.  After all, man is to be the recipient of the salvation of God.  Only one scripture indicates that an angel is to be a carrier of the gospel that is to be preached.
Can an angel live inside a person?

Answer: This right is reserved for the Holy Spirit.  The body of man is to be the temple of the Spirit of God.  However, demons (fallen angels) may usurp that right and inhabit the bodies of men.
Was Jesus an angel?

Answer: No!.  He is the Son of God and is also described as being God.  However, in the Old Testament Scriptures he does appear in the form of an angelic being.
