Note: This is not to say that everyone who has such impairments have spirits.

"Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water" (Matthew 17:15).

Note: spirits are often associated with schizophrenia and MPD; however, there are other factors involved as well.

"For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect"  (Mark 13:22).

"And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself" (Luke 13:11).  "And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?"  (Luke 13:16).

"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils" (I Timothy 4:1).

Note: this would include allowing yourself to be seduced or trying to seduce others with false doctrines.

"In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men,    Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.    Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up"  (Job 4:13-15).

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind"  (II Timothy 1:7).

"Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?"  (Job 4:17).  (A evil spirit was speaking).

"And the evil spirit from the LORD was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand: and David played with his hand.  And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin; but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night" (I Samuel 19:9-10).

"Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.   For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee" (Deuteronomy 18:11-12).
